The Boston Celtics are once again NBA champions. The Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 in Game 5 of the 2024 NBA Finals on Thursday night to win the series 4-1 and claim a league-record 18th NBA title.

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists in Game 5. He was named the NBA Finals MVP after averaging 28.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in the series.

The Celtics also got strong performances from Jaylen Brown (24 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists), Marcus Smart (20 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists), and Al Horford (11 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists).

The Mavericks were led by Luka Doncic, who had 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists in Game 5. However, Doncic was not able to match Tatum's performance in the series, and the Mavericks were ultimately outmatched by the Celtics' superior depth and experience.

The Celtics' victory is their first NBA title since 2008. It is also the first time that the Celtics have won an NBA title on the road since 1986.
