Brenden Rice Drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers

Seventh-Round Selection Strengthens Chargers Offense

Former USC Standout Joins Pro Football Hall of Famer's Son in Los Angeles

Former University of Southern California (USC) wide receiver Brenden Rice has been drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The Chargers selected Rice with the No. 231 overall pick.

Rice, the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice, is a highly skilled pass-catcher who brings versatility and athleticism to the Chargers' offense. He is known for his strong hands, excellent route running, and ability to make contested catches.

During his time at USC, Rice was a key part of the Trojans' passing attack. He caught 57 passes for 815 yards and six touchdowns in his senior season. He also rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.

The Chargers are excited to add Rice to their roster. He is expected to compete for a starting role in the team's offense. He will be joining a group of talented wide receivers that includes Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and Joshua Palmer.

Rice is not the only son of a Pro Football Hall of Famer to be drafted by the Chargers in recent years. In 2020, the Chargers selected quarterback Tyrod Taylor, the son of former NFL running back Floyd Taylor.
